Paso Robles Dog Walks

Our organization is working hard to develop recreational opportunities in Paso Robles for dog owners. Our goal is to secure a location for an off leash dog park. Paso Robles is the only city on the Central Coast and one of the very few cities in California that has an ordinance that prohibits dogs on-leash or off-leash from entering any city park. We’re working hard to change this.

The Centennial Park walking path is now open for dog walkers. Our organization paid for dog walk bag dispensers and our volunteers are helping to maintain the dog walk.

Starting October 1, 2007, Parks-4-Pups is partnering with Prudential Hallmark Realty of Paso Robles to maintain the Salinas Riverwalk trail for dog walkers.

We’re pleased that the Paso Robles City Council and the city parks and recreation staff are appreciative our efforts to promote responsible dog ownership and to maintain our park areas.

Centennial Park Dog Walk Opens in
Paso Robles!

On March 4, 2008, the Paso Robles City Council voted (4-1) to designate Centennial Park as open to dog walkers.

Since 1984, dogs have been banned from entering all city parks — either on or off-leash. We consider this a big accomplishment to open this beautiful trail to dog walkers. We are providing signs, dog walk bags and dispenser units as well as volunteers to help maintain the dog walk area. We are recruiting for volunteers to help maintain the trail so send us an email Parks-4-Pups if you can walk the trail one day every three months, picking up people and dog litter. You would earn our gratitude and remind our city leaders that “dog people rule”.

Directions: From 101 North, exit at Spring Street. Turn right on Niblick. Go 3 miles and turn left on Appaloosa Drive (one street after Nicklaus). Stay on Appaloosa Drive through the neighborhood and turn right on Red Cloud into the Centennial Park parking lot.

From 101 South, exit at 16th street, turn left on 13th street which turns into Creston Road. Turn right on Nickerson Drive and follow signs to the park.

Salinas Riverwalk Trail Gets Dog Walk Bags

Beginning October 1, 2007, Parks-4-Pups joined with the agents of Prudential Hallmark Realty to provide dog bag dispensers along the beautiful Salinas Riverwalk Trail in Paso Robles. The real estate agents paid for all the supplies and the Parks-4-Pups volunteers are refilling the dispensers and picking up litter along the trail on a weekly basis.

We need volunteers to help maintain sections of the trail so send us an email Parks-4-Pups if you can walk the trail one day every two months, refilling our dispensers and/or picking up litter.

Directions: 101 North, exit at Spring Street. Turn right on Niblick. Turn right on  South River Road. Turn right on Riverbank Road which ends at Larry Moore Park.

From 101 South, exit at 16th street, turn left on 13th street. Turn Right on South River Road. Turn right on Riverbank Road which ends at Larry Moore Park.

There are two other trailheads from South River Road:

Penney’s west parking lot trailhead: Take South River Road south of Niblick and turn into Woodland Plaza shopping center. Park in the parking lot west of Penney’s. Follow the paved trail about 30 yards to the paved trailhead.
