Dogtoberfest and 11th Annual Wiener Dog Races

Saturday, October 8, 2011  10 am—3 pm

Atascadero Lake Park (rain or shine)

All of us at Parks4Pups and Heilmann Dog Park are very excited about partnering with our friends at Lemos Feed and Pet Supply to bring a classic Fall event to  Atascadero Lake Park, including the always zany Wiener Dog Races.

This year’s race includes the popular new division for Wiener Wannabes (dogs of any breed under 25 pounds).  First place finisher gets a special prize of a professional sitting fee and photograph with Jeanne Harris (value $200). Her photography is incredible and we encourage you to check it out.

The  costume contest has prizes, gift certificates, and bragging rights for winners. See details below.

Directions:  From the 101 Freeway, exit at Hwy 41 - Morro Road and go west on Hwy 41 - Morro Road 1.5 miles. Turn left into the parking lot for the Charles Paddock Zoo.

The event day schedule is as follows:

8:30 am       Race walk-in registration  $15 includes racer goodie bag and family photo
                      The race track will be available for practice runs to competitors

10:00 am     National Anthem sung by Genete Bowen and Greta
                       Parade of Champions

10:15 am     11th Annual  Wiener Dog Races - click here for registration form and rules

11:30 am      Elks BBQ ($10 adult/$5 child) continues until 2 pm

Noon             Wannabee Races (dogs of any breed under 25 pounds)

12:30 pm      Race Finals and Awards

1 pm             Pet Costume Contest (free).  See contest categories below

2:30  pm      Final Raffle Drawings (raffles at 11:30, 1 pm, 2 pm)

Entrants for the Pet Costume can sign up at the raffle table until 12 Noon on event day.

Categories for the Pet Costume Contest (open to all animals) include:

• Most Creative
• Judge’s Special Award
• Best of Show (chosen from winners of each category)
